EVE Online gives up expansion packs and will receive 10 new updates

The developer of EVE Online, CCP, has decided to give up the expansion packages for this title, coming instead with multiple updates.

CCP, the developer of the EVE Online game, recently announced that it will no longer offer expansion packages for this title. However, they announced that they are working on no less than 10 updates for this game, updates that will be released within a year.

Until now, EVE Online and other titles received new characters, maps, game modes in the form of packages called Expansion Packs, released on average once a year. However, the DLC variant is being adopted more and more nowadays, and the EVE Online game will be in line with this trend.

“It simply came to our notice then. It will allow us to respond faster. It will also allow us to take more risks, but in the right sense of the word. ”- said the CEO of CCP, Hilmar Veigar Pétursson for Polygon.

The first update is called Kronos and will be released on June 3. It will be followed by Crius on August 19, Hyperion on September 23, Oceanus on November 4, Phobe on December 9, Rhea on January 20, 2015, Tethys on February 7, 2015, Theia on March 17, 2015 and last but not least Themis , which was scheduled for April 4, 2015. The most advantageous will be the players, who will not have to wait too long for updates.

The downside is that these updates will no longer be as complex and well-tested as the old Expansion Packs.
